The Osa Peninsula is truly one of Costa Rica’s best fishing destinations. Inshore Osa Fishing Species

Costa Rica and the Osa Peninsula in particular, is famous for it’s diverse inshore fisheries. Any given day you could catch 7 or more species. We recommend releasing your catch (resident reef fish) but if you want to “catch and eat” it’s up to you. Here is a species breakdown for the inshore haunts of the Golfo Dulce (Sweet Gulf)

• Snapper (Over 10 varieties with Cubera being the most sought after)
• Bluefin Trevally
• African Pompano
• Grouper
• Mackerel
• Jack Crevalle
• Amberjack
• Rock Snapper
• Yellowtail Snapper
• Barracuda
• Wax Snapper
• Colorado Snapper
• Red Snapper
• Needlefish
• Snook
• Tarpon (Believe it or not, several are released annually….but probably not a good idea to expect to tussle with one – we recommend the Caribbean coast for that.)
